Regulations for Burning:

THE REGULATIONS LISTED BELOW ARE TO BE FOLLOWED SO THAT YOUR BURNING PERMIT WILL REMAIN IN FORCE. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN SUSPENSION OF SAID PERMIT, A NOTICE TO APPEAR IN THE MUNICIPAL COURT AND OR NO FUTURE BURNING PERMITS ISSUED FOR A PERIOD TO BE DETERMINED BY THE FIRE CHIEF.

  1. National Weather Service Kansas Rangeland Fire Danger Index must not be forecast as very high or extreme.
  2. Burning allowed at the following wind speeds:

           Maximum speed in congested areas........................8 mph
           Maximum speed in non-congested areas...............12 mph
     
  4. This permit shall be good for one burning. If weather conditions DO NOT allow burning on that day, the following two days may be used to attempt a complete one-time burning.  All regulations must be followed.

  6. Applicant shall call fire department before burning to obtain wind speed and for permission to burn.

  8. Fire suppression equipment shall consist of the type suitable to extinguish the type of material being burned and must be available at burn site.

  10. All fire shall be constantly attended by a competent person and this person shall remain within 300 feet of the fire.

  12. Time shall be from one-half hour after sunrise until one-half hour before sunset.

  14. The location shall not be less than 50 feet from any structure.

  15.  
  16. The Fire Chief may prohibit all outdoor fires when atmospheric conditions or local circumstances make such fires hazardous.
